Culture Club

Culture Club is one of the best-known British bands of the new romantic genre and the new wave movement. In the 1980s, the group became a true cultural phenomenon – selling over 150 million records.
Created by Boy George and Michael Craig, the band, which also included Roy Hay and Jon Moss, was initially named In Praise Of Lemmings. Later, the name was changed to Sex Gang Children, which ended up generating controversy and leading the musicians to the name that remained throughout their career: Culture Club.
Their first album, Kissing To Be Clever, from 1982, was a real success. The group broke through with the tracks "White Boy", "I'm Afraid Of Me" and "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me".
Their second album, Colour By Numbers, released the following year, featured the hits "Karma Chameleon," "It's a Miracle," "Church Of The Poison Mind," "Miss Me Blind," and "Victims." They were the most played group in their genre at the time.
In 1984, the musicians released their third album, titled Waking Up With The House On Fire. This work featured "The War Song" as a single – well-received by the British, but not in the same way in the United States.
Back in 1986, the band began to struggle with Boy George's crises, as he confessed to being addicted to heroin. The impact was felt on their fourth album, From Luxury To Heartache, which was not as successful as its predecessors.
Boy George entered a rehabilitation clinic and returned in 1987 with a solo career. Culture Club, meanwhile, disbanded.
In 1999, the group decided to reunite for the release of the project Don't Mind If I Do, which contains the song "I Just Wanna Be Loved".
They even toured England and the United States and recorded a live DVD in 2002.
In 2014, Culture Club reunited, and in August 2016, the band announced that the album Tribes was permanently shelved and offered refunds to everyone who pre-ordered the album online. The band was scheduled to come to Brazil in 2017 with the original lineup: Boy George on vocals, Roy Hay on guitar and keyboards, Mikey Craig on bass, and Jon Moss on drums and percussion, but the show was ultimately canceled.
A repackaged album called Life (credited to George & Culture Club) was finally released on October 26, 2018. That same year, the band toured the US and Europe. Jon Moss was originally part of the lineup, but left the US tour and did not participate in the European leg.
