Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode emerged in the city of Essex, England, in the early 1980s. The band is one of the most influential in modern music and carries the electronic genre as its main trademark. The name of the English group was inspired by the cover of a French fashion magazine. Depeche comes from dépêche, which can mean "to dispatch" or "news." The word Mode means "fashion."
For the band, the name represents "rushed fashion," but in the French translation, the expression is understood as "fashion news" or "latest fashion."
The story of Depeche Mode began in March 1980, with musicians Martin L. Gore, Andrew Fletcher, and Vince Clarke – who formed the group The Composition Of Sound. In their songs, the band used the famous synthesizers to produce sounds generated by manipulating electrical currents.
In 1981, musician David Gahan was heard by Vince McMahon during a jam session, while performing the song "Heroes" by David Bowie. The vocalist was soon invited to complete the band, which then became known as Depeche Mode.
After the release of their first album, Vince decided to leave the band and was replaced by Alan Wilder in 1982. A few years later, Wilder also left the group, causing Depeche Mode to return to its original trio lineup.
The English band had 44 of their songs on the UK charts and frequently appeared in the top 40 most listened-to bands, reaching the number one spot.
Furthermore, the group revolutionized the music world when they began using samplers – software or hardware designed to store audio samples in various file formats.
Amidst numerous projects, breaks, and reunions, the band released 13 albums, selling approximately 100 million copies. Among their most played singles are "Enjoy The Silence," "Strangelove," "Personal Jesus," and "Just Can't Get Enough."
