Jason Mraz

Jason Mraz was born in Mechanicsville, Virginia, in 1977. However, he initially pursued his talent in the performing arts. After finishing high school, he moved to New York City to enroll at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, but he didn't stay there long. It was while performing in musicals that he discovered his talent for singing and, after a year of study, he gave up his acting career.
With his guitar in hand, he dedicated himself to composing his own music while also playing on the streets of New York. In 1999, Jason moved to San Diego, California, and established himself as a musician on the nightlife circuit, accompanying other artists, such as the singer Jewel. During this time, he came into contact with several other musicians. His first musical project was "A Jason Mraz Demonstration," in 1999, recorded independently and containing 8 tracks of his own authorship. After this, 4 more EPs would follow.
With his constant performances in San Diego and even Los Angeles, Mraz ended up attracting the attention of the Elektra record label, with which he would sign a contract. In 2002 he returned to Virginia to focus on recording material. The result was Waiting for My Rocket to Come, an album with influences of country, classic rock and folk, which already featured his first hit, the track "Remedy I Won't Worry". The album earned the musician his first platinum record.
The tour that followed the album's release in 2003 even had one of its performances recorded, resulting in his first live CD and DVD: Tonight, Not Again, released in 2004. Jason's next step was to return to the studio to dedicate himself to his second album. The result was Mr. A-Z, an album that earned him his first Grammy nomination.
Jason Mraz's career as a musician truly took off, however, with his next work, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things, in 2008. The album was released in an unconventional way. Its 12 tracks were initially released as 3 EPs with 4 songs each – the first called We Sing, the second We Dance, and the third We Steal Things – before the full album was released as a single unit. The album title – We Sing. We Dance. We Steal – the singer explains that he took it from a work by an illustrator named David Shringley, whom Jason commissioned to create the cover and all the graphic art for the album.
The success of singles like 'Make it Mine' and especially "I'm Yours" was decisive in making Jason's music resonate across the globe. Jason's subsequent nomination for three categories at the 2008 Grammy Awards, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Song of the Year for "I'm Yours," further solidified Jason's image as a critical and commercial success. The album also features collaborations with Californian singer Colbie Caillat on "Lucky" and British singer James Morrison on "Details in the Fabric."
The year 2009 marks Jason's first visit to Brazil, with shows in five capital cities, including the Natura Nós/About Us festival alongside Sting.
Jason Mraz released the album Beautiful Mess: Live From Earth in 2009. Recorded live during the tour for his last album, the platinum-selling We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things (2008), Beautiful Mess features some of the American singer's greatest hits, including "I'm Yours," which was nominated for a Grammy.
In 2013, Mraz released the album Love Is a Four Letter Word. The single '93 Million Miles' was a huge success and its biggest hit. The musician's most recent album is 'Yes!', from 2014. The project was promoted by the track 'Love Someone'.
